Family

The one and only good thing about funerals, that I can think of, is that you get to see and visit with family members. You don't realize how much you actually miss someone until you get to see them again and catch up on old times. I have such a great time with my Miller cousins, some of my best memories are about time spent with them. It was so great to see everyone! I was kind of a slacker this Christmas season and I haven't been much into the whole "spirit" of it all this year. Maybe it's because my Grandma wasn't there, maybe it's because my mom fell while delivering goodies to a neighbor and broke her femur (yes you heard me right!) or maybe it's because I hate winter. Who knows, but I didn't take any pictures of any of the fun Christmas festivities we always take part in, although we still took part in all of them, I just didn't care to capture any of them on camera. I will probably regret this down the road, I really don't feel bad about it right now though. Anyways, I did take lots of pictures at the funeral and when I was going through them, I found myself smiling! So I'm making this a post about my "Miller" side of the family. I know that this might not mean a lot to many of my blog followers but it's means the world to me and I know that when I look back on this post years from now, I will be so happy that I captured this day and memory with lots of photos!

The boys looked so handsome at the cemetery.

A picture that I took of my Dad and Grandma about 1.5 years ago. Priceless!

And last, but certainly not least, a shot of my Grandma and me, this honestly has to be one of my favorite pictures that I have ever taken. Love you Grandma!

My Grandma Miller

Oh How I love My Grandma Miller. She was such an inspirational woman. I will miss her dearly, but her legacy will live on through our amazingly huge Miller prodigy! Tell Grandpa we all say hello, what a sweet reunion that must have been.

Below is a copy of her obituary, if you have a second you should definitely read it. I was in awe to learn things about her that I had never heard about before.

Love You Grandma!

Dot MILLER Tannie Dot Crump Miller 1914 ~ 2011 Tannie Dot Crump Miller completed her mission on the earth on December 10, 2011 and passed into the arms of her eternal companion James Art, her family, friends and her heavenly parents. She was born in Herriman, Utah on December 11, 1914 to Joseph Henry and Fannie Bodell Crump. She was the youngest of six children, all of whom preceded her in death. Dot lived through World War II and the great Depression which taught her the value of family, industry, and sacrifice. Dot enjoyed sports, especially softball where she was a star pitcher and she was an avid horseshoe fan and competitor. Dot married James Art Miller in the Salt Lake Temple on November 28, 1941 and together they raised four children, James John (Shannon), Suzanne Dot Crane (J. Lynn), Joseph Neil (Charlotte), and Steven George (Marjie). Her husband died in 1967 and Dot lived alone for 44 years. She enjoyed her grandchildren and her family was the crown jewel of her life. She was a friend to many and lived a life of service. Dot was a life long member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. At age 14 she became the ward organist and served in that calling until her 87th year. Dot had a special touch on the organ and was often asked to play for programs and funerals. She served in many other auxiliary callings, loved the Savior and bore her testimony through her service. Dot was a member of the Daughters of the Utah Pioneers and a charter member of the Literary Club in Herriman. She also belonged to a Quilters Guild of Utah. She had a green thumb and enjoyed a reputation of being the lady with the sculptured yard. Dot will be missed by family and friends and her legacy will live on in the lives of her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. A special thanks to Kim Miller for her care and service to our mother. Thanks also to care givers Minnie, Valerie, Envision, and Our House Assisted Living.

Thanksgiving!

Oh the simplicity of Thanksgiving. A holiday where you get to just, relax, eat, visit with family, eat, play fun little games, eat, take little cat-naps through-out the day and most importantly, we get to take a minute or two and realize all that we are truly THANKFUL for! I for one, feel incredibly blessed. There are so many things that I am thankful for but I am going to keep it simple by listing a few things that really stand out in my mind: Ryan, family, my pets, friends,my faith, health, my home, my job, Ryan's job, freedom and happiness. That is just a small dent in my long list of things I am thankful for but really, how important are these to me??? VERY!!! We had a very chill and relaxing day. Ry had to work, but now that he is in Midvale, it makes it easier for him to stop by and take part in a few holidays. It was the Miller's year for Thanksgiving but The Lim's had dinner early enough that Ry and I were able to stop by and visit for a bit before heading out to my families house for the day. My mom truly went all out (as always) and dinner was fabulous! We played a couple of fun games and then the rest of my night was spent at home relaxing, nothing better!

Part 2: VEGAS!!!

Las Vegas is awesome! I love the hustle, the bustle, the glimmer and the glam, It really does rank up there with one of my favorite places to visit. We had a fabulous time with Yuen and Brenda. Day one was spent shopping and eating at a fun little sports bar, called Buffalo's! Day two started with a Mediterranean Massage (a special surprise from Ryan to me!) down at the Villa Spa, Loved it!, More shopping (Gotta Love that!) Then we met up for dinner with Yuen's half brother Butch and his wife, Barb for dinner at a place called the Barbary Coast, It looked like a sketchy place but the food was fabulous! After dinner, Yuen, Brenda, Ry and myself headed to the late showing of "The Phantom of The Opera" at the Venetian. I was extremely impressed with all of the actors and all of the stage effects. If you're ever in Vegas, make sure you catch this show, FABULOUS! And on the last day (for me at least) we did a little more shopping and ate some yummy lunch at The Claim Jumper. I had to get back for a big to-do at work. Ry stayed a couple of more days with his parents and from what I hear, they had a great time! We love Vegas Baby!

No need to even explain this one!

ohhhhh cute!

Trip Down South, Part 1.

I want to move somewhere warm, Just gettin that out there, 72 degrees, yes please! Now I will explain why I am feeling so strongly about this. Ry and I took a little mini vacation down south last week, and we had so much fun, I can't even put it into words! We spent the first night in St. George with My Mom, Pops, Neil, Big Heath and Sky. Skyler participated in yet another softball tourni and we were able two spend two full days watching our little all-star pitch her lights out, they did amazing and ended up taking 3rd place out of 46 teams! The next night, Neil, Heath, Ry and I decided to test our luck out in Mesquite, we didn't win, we lost, what's new? We did have a lot of fun though!

*Stay tuned for Part 2-VEGAS BABY!!!

These are all shots from St. George and Mesquite, We had soooo much fun!

Prayers For Cassie

Cassidy Allen!

As some of you may know, One of my bestest friends on this planet (Ali Sandberg-Allen,) was devastated with some horrific news two days ago, her little two year old daughter has been diagnosed with a tumor that is connected to her spine and to her brain stem. With an amazing team of Doctors and with all of our many prayers and fasts, it looks (as of right now) that she may make a full recovery. Oh sweet little Cassie girl, keep fighting and know that your Heavenly Father has so many wonderful experiences for you to look forward to in this life.
To keep up on this amazing story, head on over to the link that the Allen's have set up to keep us all updated on her condition http://www.oursweetcassidy.blogspot.com/ We love you Allen's!

That Was My Kinda Party!

I love me some Jason Aldean, Oh yes I do!!! I recently had the extreme pleasure to attend one of his very entertaining concerts. The concert crew: Neil, Lil' Heath, Joe, Cole, Skyler and me, fun group right! This was the kids first concert, and all things considered, they did pretty good. Cole did struggle a bit towards the end, the noise level definitely wasn't his style. Before the concert we filled our tummies with yummy food from Texas Roadhouse, we were just trying to keep the theme country (not really, that was just a coincidence!) Anyways, We had a blast! Here's to good ole "hot" country boys who look great in wrangle jeans and wear really cool chain wallets!

Heath captured this darling shot before we took off for the night.

And here they are a couple minutes before the concert started, happy campers!

Ahhhh, Heath and I.

Neil and I, ready to tear it up!

Oh and I'm way ahead of you, I just knew you would all like to see a picture of Jason Aldean, YUMMY!!! (P.S. check out that "sexy" chain wallet he's sportin!)

Another Potpouri of Events

So this is gunna be a biggy! It's true, I have been a slacker once again! October was incredibly busy for Ry and I, but I'm not complaining, we took part in a bunch of super fun activities. I'm going to try to get everyone caught up on a few of the highlights on how we spent the first official month of fall here in good ole SLC.

First: We celebrated Trav's birthday at Market Street Grill and even though Jen had the little surprise gathering at 9:00 AM on a Sunday morning (I'm not even kidding!) We had a fabulous time!

Ry and I. (Obvious, right?)

Me, Trav's friend, Rebecca and Jen's cousin, Lindsay.

Jen and the birthday boy himself! (sorry for the glare in the back.)

The whole Birthday crew.

Second: Halloween. I just love Halloween, I love how it smells, weird I know, but it's true. The crisp smell of an amazing Utah autumn, wood burning stoves, the lit candles in all of the jack o' lanterns, my Mom's homemade chicken noodle soup, Brenda's homemade hardshell tacos and all of the the yummy candy, I know you all know what I'm talking about. Oh and how can you not love all of those darling little (and big) costumes you see everywhere you turn. Love it!

Alivia's attempt at making a mean witches face!

Addy's gunna give it a go now. How cute!

Gracee and Brenton going through all of their loot.

Cole posing in his costume, how funny!

The Salsa Leedos Crew all dressed up.

And a few of us from Richter 7. Fun times!

Third: Wendover. Ry and I ventured out to Wendover with a few friends a couple of weekends ago, how much fun did we have???? LOTS!

There was actually a huge group that went with us, but as usual, I forgot to take out my camera. I was lucky to capture these two shots. Here is Lex (making a weird face) Ry and "Z"
Lil' Heath, Sherry and myself.

And Fourth: But for sure the most important. I have another niece! Yes it's true, Travis and Jen welcomed little Brynnlie on October 27th. She is a little dolly! That makes 6 nieces and 4 nephews for us and oh how I just love them all to pieces!

Isn't she precious!
